Remembering Darwin Grosse
On the last day of February 2020, Darwin and I chatted for about an hour on the phone. I was considering new directions for my work in music technology, and he was very open and generous with his time.
That was likely one of the last professional meetings I had before the pandemic took us all in unexpected directions.
Instead of pursuing these new ideas, I spent most of the following year and a half at home with my then two-year-old son. Now, in 2022, as I'm starting to move forward and explore, it saddens me that he's no longer here.
He was a gift to the music tech community, on an individual level and through the large body of work he's left behind.
